Spokane Tilth was founded on March 15, 1998 and became a Chapter of Washington Tilth Association on March 21, 1999. As an educational and research association serving the greater Spokane area, Spokane Tilth's mission, like that of its parent organization, is to promote biologically sound, socially equitable, sustainable agriculture. The focus of the organization is on illuminating the relationship between farmer and the larger community and includes:

* Networking both within and without the Spokane Tilth membership

* Raising consciousness about local and global food security issues

* Creating a viable community

* Encouraging community support for the local farming economy

* Facilitating community farming and gardening

* Consciousness raising around issues of the country within the city

* Improving the ecology of the urban/rural interface

* Increasing agriculture's sustainability

* Promoting food safety and food justice

Membership:

Individuals and organizations- $25 per year

Students and Elders- $10 per year
